With subject matter and writing like this, your blog should have a much wider readership. Keep your eye on the prize and keep moving. Forwards or backwards just keep moving. You are a force of nature. And you speak for a lot of women. Now I've never worn stilettos, but I have my own stories of insult and subsequent learning. Holding out for real love and respect is essential. It took me until I was 44 to find a man who faces me as an equal and who catches me when I fall -- time after time. There's always some catch when you find true love. Some obstacle that presents itself. Mine was age. My guy is 11 years younger. But we are still together 11 years after our first magical encounter. Keep the faith.

HEY! Ailene, this was sooo good! I spend so much time trying to explain Virgoness to people...this really sums it up well. Like my cousin and I are a day apart and so different, but when I did her chart it was obvious why.
I LOVE being a VIRGO...wouldn't choose any other sign. BTW I am Virgo, Libra, Libra - raised by a Libra mother...go figure.
    Thanks for the shout out!

I have heard of this book but never actually took the time to pick it up and read it. I think his theory is interesting and since I have not actually read the book I can only go on what I have read here. My question is, what is the definition of success? Is his idea of success solely linked to being famous and/or acquiring a lot of money? What about the 40 or 50 something year old person who has just enrolled in medical school after working 20 years in another field? There are MANY other paths to success and I'm confused by the premise of this book. Does he fully explain what it means to be successful? I think that that depends on each person and I'm not sure it always requires 10,000 hours or 10 years of time to get there...

As usual, I come away from your writing feeling inspired and with the feeling that I have learned something new about myself. I have been out of touch since I decided to detach myself from the matrix (basically every single social networking site) and I have been waiting to see if you would update the blog! I almost thought that you would never come back! I'm glad to see that you have channeled your talents into other areas and pray dearly that these endeavors work in your favor as you are highly intelligent and resourceful (as if you didn't know that already!). I have my own changes that I am dealing with and it's nice to see that there are others out there who can really turn lemons into lemonade and use their instincts and talents to make a better life for themselves. Thanks for the inspiration LoisLane!!

I enjoyed this blog so much because it hits to the heart of what is really going on in this campaign. It also saids a lot about the whole who's more American and the right given to those that are thought to be "true" Americans. We are all true Americans and Obama is the perfect example of America the way it should be, mixed! Forget all these group out there that bad mouthing Obama for his racial difference. He is right on point, he is the most American candidate we have. We should be grateful that he choose to run for president. Because it's NOT "crazy" to think that we could have a mixed president.

As many things I read on a daily basis not much interest me enough to continue reading like these blogs, and especially that book.

For those who are fortunate enough to buy and read it, I hope you will all agree it should be a movie.

    This girl is brilliant...

Boy oh boy, we can't be surprised though. He just got caught. His foolish ass would still be doing it if he didn't. Forget the "I'm sorry and the apologies" He failed to do the job he was hired for. I feel bad for his family, that's who I feel the worst for. His kids have to go to school with all the weight of what their father did. Those poor girls. The woman that did the deed with him she's not feeling bad for what she did, trust me. She has gotten offers from all kinds of magazines, offers for a book and maybe even a movie. Her Myspace page has got one of the worse songs I've ever heard and it's getting plays left and right in hopes to help her music career. I think I'd rather listen to angry sea lions than to listen that song ever again. So he'll go down in flames and she'll get famous...now ain't that American! As far as the comment made about Obama and if he was white he wouldn't be in that position, you have to laugh at the sad ones, but basically you know that's whats on the minds of many people out there. Why would it seem so hard to believe that a man that isn't a caucasian would run for office? I guess for the same reason that there is no one but caucasian men on the majority of our currency. This country was built on the back of all of us, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics and Asians. As far that goes we ALL took a boat to come here some where just more comfortable than others on the trip here. It's time for a new day and no one has it any easier than anyone else, there are two kinds of people in America rich and poor. Forget race we need a president that is going to work for everyone. No hidden agendas, no fake religious war makers, no more favoring parties, just a REAL person with a REAL family doing REAL American things, a president for the people because they are REAL people...everyday people!!

Wow. Wow. Wow. This is really crazy. I'm just catching up with the readings (blogs and articles, etc.). I was extremely upset when I heard that he hurled a newspaper at Mother Hen. Yeah, I get the lingo now and think your brilliant for concocting it. But back to the subject, that really bothered me. I know if I would have been present and saw said act, I would have no choice but to speak up and react. We were blessed to get out of that place before all this shit hit the fan. And as for EJ, all I can do is laugh. Absolutely ridiculous. I am going to hold my tongue, although there's so much I want to say. Kudos Loislane. Miss ya man.

EXCELLENT! Oh, Monsieur Ennui, you sound like a LOT of fun. I laughed out loud reading this as it reminded me of my own similar Mexican vacation. In 1990, along with two friends, a station wagon equipped with the finest in music technology, err...AM radio rather, $60 and nothing but youth on our sides we drove from Minnesota to Mexico. Being female and cute, we had a completely different experience. LOL! The local guys were ALL too happy to help us to and from the bar double fisted and eager to watch the ditzy American girls attempt to drink them under the table. We did. Some time later, we had an adventure with the Mexican police that resulted in them confiscating every worldy possesion we had of value. I woke up across the border in San Diego sleeping in the back compartment of that station wagon with the spare tire as a pillow and an oil rag as a towel and memories of being the ORIGINAL International Girls Gone Wild! I sure hope those photos never surface. LMAO!

    Thanks for the great read.

    Sending a smile...

Whether we want to accept it or not, race is always an issue in America. I don't think that has to be a bad thing, though it often can be and is.

I think Obama offers us some hope in moving past some of the skeletons associated with this issue that has dogged us throughout this nation's history. I also think he has a progressive agenda of ideas -- surely not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but then who has ever been?

My beef with Hillary is that she seemed to think that the presidency had been bequeathed to her by virtue of her so-called experience. She has been telling us that she's the only electable Democrat and the only one ready to do the job. I think she simply should be telling us what her plans are and let us decide. Clearly, I'm not the only person who feels this way based on how people are voting.

I'm not a woman, but I'm sure gender issues are equally valid, so I can appreciate the dilemma that women -- black and otherwise -- are facing.

Some people will say race and gender should not matter. But the fact is we've been electing white men forever, even when they have not been qualified by any objective standards. And the question that begs an answer is: Why?

Clearly race and gender have mattered in terms of who has been deemed worthy of the office. White and male. And trust me that is very different from Black and male, and I want to believe to some extent white and female.

At any rate, I'm hopeful that we won't continue to buy into the same old model...

There are signs that many Americans are really convinced that it is time for change... I pray that we as a nation have the courage to do at the (voting) poll what we say we will do in the (opinion) polls.

I'm all over the place on him and this election. My own house is divided. My grandmother wants Obama, saying "White people have had it for a long time, let someone else have a chance." My mother is a staunch Clinton supporter saying "We've always had men in the White House. I want a woman."
My fiance is Obama all the way. He's been to rallies and told me to be at our polling place when it opens.
I'm split in half (though leaning toward Obama as Clinton's campaign does strange and offensive things campaigning against Obama).

Call me a cynic, but I think race matters more than Obama's success is letting on. I still wonder if a lot of white folks will freak out and hit the box next to the white guy's name at the 11th hour?

And if Obama becomes president, what will that really mean for black folk?
I think it'll be a double edged sword. On the one hand, how much will it force people to rethink what they think about black people when the FIRST LADY IS 100% black and the nation's first children are two little black girls? More than anything, I hope it changes the way black people think of themselves (especially black women and girls).

BUT, if a black man is president, then will we be able to talk about injustice and racism the same way? I imagine that white people will say "A black man is president. That means everything is equal and there are no racial barriers. Quit complaining because we really aren't listening now!"

I can see both happening. So... no matter what happens, this is going to be hell of a race and the election will only be the beginning.

So, much like the music industry, I seriously doubt that people are coming back to actual printed newspapers as they move further & further into the internet to get their information. With that in mind, what do you think is a new viable business model that can support the kind of quality investigative journalism you're talking about here?

You are absolutely correct. The recession is here. The thing is, we usually don't realize we are in one until a few months after we've already been there. The minute Bush broke news of a "Stimulus package", I knew we were in deep doo-doo. By the time we need a stimulus package, most Americans are already in that two paycheck behind status and losing their credit points due to late payments because of the high interest rates on everything known to man and the fact that you have to buddy up to pay for a tank of gas these days. I blame the war spending, as frivilous as Paris Hilton in the LV store, and the past 7 years of tax breaks for the wealthy in addition to regular ole corportate greed and mishandling of the 'People's funds'. I just don't see us getting out of this with a $250 tax rebate. The people hardest hit can't be helped with $250 that won't even arrive for months and months. That's not even enough to pay for the heat in most homes today. THis is a time when people start using their mattresses for savings again and the downward spiral continues because we just don't have the money to put into a system where it isn't worth anything. Just another day in America. As Jim Morrison said, "NO one here gets out alive."

    Great write up! Thanks LL!

Looks like Neurodermititis. My brother had something similar when he was very young. He also had it behind his knees, the inside of his arms and ankles. Drove him crazy.

The doctor told him what he needed to do was just open his mouth up, because he had been holding to many emotions in for years.
Keep in mind that when ever there is poison in the body it's escape root is through the skin. Creams don't help nor does medicine. Detox is what one should do.

Needless to say it worked, we haven't spoken since and it did clear up that gross rash he had.

Heard they also took off all the cold medicines for kids under the age of 2 today. FDA said it was a risk. Well N.S.!

Getting rid of people. They have been trying to do that for years. All the medications they give out will eventually shut the liver down and then it's bend over and kiss yourself goodbye.

I have been telling people for years they need to learn how to take care of themselves. Listen to the body it will tell you everything. Don't eat with people you don't like because the food turns to poison.

Just a little 411 from the corner of crack & crotch!

Great article - I have noticed the change but only because I have been doing much research in regards to stocks and commodities and the worth of the dollar has come up numerous times... the problem in my eyes in regards to awareness is that many Aamericans dont know or understand many of the impacts of what goes on outside this country...I remember when the dollar was over $3.00 to the German Mark (Before Euro came into effect)..people stationed overseas were spending money like it was nothing, litteraly throwing it away.. now its not worth anything anymore...People need to understand the lack of value of the dollar and how it affects us as well as how the world views this country and ultimately can if it hasnt already affect our trade with others..those of us who dont read or get involved with financials are not aware and never will be aware... to be honest how many people care? thats the problem, they dont understand so they dont bother to learn and thus they dont care!! Although I a sure those with $$, the so called upper class, are aware of this or at least are keeping an eye on it..as well as any investors.. Thats too sad though!! Its also sad that only Bloomberg (Financial company - actually used to be my client) and the BBC (European newscast) are the only ones making a note of this...do you think this would ever reach the local level - when have you seen financial news on the local level??? Great article to make us more aware of whats going on!! Hope all is well !!

As always, your blog just speaks out what I think and what I have gone through until now: you have to believe that there is someone or maybe something guiding you and then everything will turn out right. If you just let it happen and if you remind yourself sometimes to LET it happen. Hearing the inside voice which we all got but which is nearly unheard in the trouble of today, thats what its all about - and that sometimes is not easy at all.

you seemed to have listen to your inner voice from the beginning - I like that. Brrrr, my english is not good enough to write what I exactly think - I hope you understand me either ;o) like you always did.
