Chocolate-Dipped Adonis
Like a good girl, after one hardworking day, my script's outlined. As I look ahead to the dialogue, I figure, keeping you posted will keep me honest. And don't worry, I don't plan to give you a writer's blow-by-blow. What fun would that be?
Instead, I've decided to invite you in on my newest, latest, greatest and most favorite distraction: Idris Elba. MMM lekker!
As I was weening down on my working hours yesterday, I got a blessed tweet from this chocolate-dipped Adonis. If you don't know what a tweet is, here's a hint: it has nothing to do with birds and everything to do with Apples. Anywho, the aforementioned tweet was a picture of Elba from the set of his latest project, The Losers.

If you are like my friend, Cal, and you don't know who he is, I ask: Hast thou lain in coma for all of the 2000s? Here's something to enlighten thee beyond yonder Elba link.
He played Stringer Bell in HBO's, The Wire...
he caught a bullet from Denzel Washington in American Gangster...
he was the subject of Ali Larter's psychotic break in Obsessed...
and he played Mumbles, the daper don draped in green in Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla.
I do hope that Adonis Elba gets more scenes in the teased The Real RocknRolla. Being a bigGuy Ritchie fan, I've got a couple of questions about that rock salt bit but I'll save that for later. If you haven't seen any of these, you should. He's been hailed as the coming of the next Denzel. Those aren't my words, didn't you hear the newscaster say that, or were you taken in by his blue rebeka and his uber-sexy English accent? Play it again.
I don't know if he's Denzel v. 2.0.09, nor, do I care. He's a fine distraction anytime. And, I'm not the only one who feels this way. He has 10,000 followers on Twitter, 7,000 more on Facebook and a whooping 19,500 on MySpace, which sets him apart from his Denzelesque counterparts. By the way, those hyperlinks are to his pages. Today's breed of heartthrob and 'Most Eligible Bachelor' as Elba has been christened, is scarily accessible and interacts with his fans via social media Web sites. (All hail to the geeks! This was an unforeseen bene.)
True to Virgo form, chocolate-dipped Adonis Elba, as I have crowned him, has more than one God-given talent. He's a DJ and a good one. He has an artist's MySpace page, so you can hear lots of his music there. It seems impossible to me that anyone can be conscious and not know who he is, especially after last month's Essence cover story. But if that is you, take some time out to get acquainted. You'll be glad you did.
I have a distinct feeling he's going to be around for a long, long time. Obsessed is out on DVD. The Losers is scheduled for release in 2010.

Hey Kitty Kat!
It's so funny that you know my type so well. Honestly though, I think any woman can enjoy watching him no matter their preferences. I knew he was English but never heard his accent until that clip of the interview he did promoting American Gangster. OH-EM-GEE! And, he sounds so friendly too! I couldn't believe it. I hope he gets more roles where he can use his native accent.
Do you have a favorite role of his?
I don't think this will be the last I write of him.
As he would say, Fanks fo readin'...

LOL. Tarana. You should see the comments on his pages. Seems like the entire country's population of black women love this man, and then some.
Thanks for taking the time out to show me and him some love.

Well I must admit, he IS gorgeous! Seems like such a nice guy, too. His accent doesn't quite do it for me though ;o)
However, top of my list has always been the footballer Thierry Henry. SO stunningly beautiful, kind, smart and has ze sexee French accent! Yum!!!

Isn't he though, K-Ryd?
LMAO. Understandably, the accent might be a bit run-of-the-mill for you. Speaking of which, you've probably been seeing Adonis Elba on your screen for much longer than we have, eh?
You know, I think he is more than meets the eye. He is quite nice and interacts with his fans a bit. And lo and behold, he, too, is a bit of an intellectual...last night he started an interesting thread about intelligence and a possible correlation to the socially inept. The convo was based on a book he is currently reading, which sounds like something I just might pick up. The point: He is more than just a pretty smile and a nice package.
I know of your Theirry. He had lots of adverts (Nike) that ran in Czech while I was there. I think he plays/played for Arsenal? I may be wrong. Alas, he is attractive.
Nice choice, K-Ryd! More Adona Elba for moi. ;D

Love this post!! Even though I have officially converted over to the 'Light n Luscious' population (love you Mr.Ashe!!), I still have love for the sexy dark chocolate and Sir Elba is right up there on my list! Good choice!! He is HAWT!!

To be clear, there is nothing wrong with the 'Light-n-Luscious' band of brothers. Even I have been known to indulge on a caramel every now and again. But can I help it if I love and prefer my chocolate, berries, coffee and men all the same way? Especially dark. My GM was like that too!
I guess, Mr. Ashe is your favorite star to watch these days. BAH!

I can't believe I forgot to mention This Christmas. I loved his character in that one too. I didn't really care for his role in Unborn because I waited the entire film to see him until it was just about over and then *spoiler alert* his ghastly demise came all too quickly. I know I'm going overboard, but me no help it.
Check out RocknRolla. Everyone I put on to Snatch loved it and I feel they will have the same reaction to this flick. There's a scene in it where they go to a party and Adonis Elba is wearing this green shirt. Grrrrl! It's too much!
Let me know what you think after you peep it.

Ok Meggie. You have got to come back and let us know what you think about the bathroom scene... That would have sent me over the edge too! LOL.
We watched Dreamgirls together, so I'll be interested to learn your opinion on Bey's non-singing role.
Anywho, Dave has got to get me clips for the blog first. He said, he'll holla, so stay tuned.
Thanks for stopping by! Papa...
